The Schaelagel family was staying in Tamarindo, and wanted something to remember their vacation by — a real record of the trip with their son, not just another posed photo. A beach session at sunset felt like exactly the right fit.

They thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful day, running freely across the sand and not worrying at all about getting messy along the way — the kind of carefree moments that make a family session feel real instead of staged. Partway through, a horse wandered into view completely unannounced, turning into one of those unplanned, wonderful surprises no one could have scripted.

Between the golden light, the running, and the horse that showed up out of nowhere, the session became less about posing for the camera and more about simply being present together — exactly the kind of memory a family vacation deserves.
