REAL ELOPEMENT | ARENAL VOLCANO. LA FORTUNA
Charlotte & Jame’s Clear-Sky Elopement at Arenal Observatory Lodge
An elopement that began at Nayara Springs and moved to Arenal Observatory Lodge — where, against all odds, the volcano showed itself completely clear for their ceremony.
THE STORY
The Day the Volcano Finally Showed Itself
Charlotte and James began their day at Nayara Springs, each getting ready separately before meeting for their first look on one of the hotel’s quiet bridges — the kind of moment that sets the tone for everything that follows.
From there, they moved to Arenal Observatory Lodge, walking to a small lake with one of the most spectacular views of Arenal Volcano in all of La Fortuna. It’s a view that’s often hidden — the volcano spends most days wrapped in cloud — but on this particular afternoon, it stood completely clear.
Charlotte and James couldn’t quite believe their luck as they said their vows with the volcano rising behind them, uncovered for the first time all day.
Their newlywed portraits followed right after, the same clear sky holding for every frame — a rare gift in a place known for keeping its volcano just out of view.
