This stunning waterfall is easily accessible, just a five-minute walk from the parking area, making it an ideal destination for those who prefer not to walk long distances.

The Beauty of Llanos de Cortés

When you arrive at Llanos de Cortés Waterfall, it feels like stepping into a dream, as if you’re in a fairy tale. It is one of the most mystical and romantic waterfalls in Costa Rica. You can easily enter the river since it’s not too deep, and enjoy a small «beach» area perfect for a romantic picnic.

Photography Sessions in a Natural Setting

This waterfall is ideal for couple sessions, elopements, and family photos. It’s a perfect place to bring children without tiring them out.

Llanos de Cortés Waterfall is located in Bagaces, Guanacaste, and is accessible from popular tourist destinations. It’s just two hours from Tamarindo or Las Catalinas, 1:30 hours from Dreams Las Mareas, and one hour from the Papagayo Peninsula. There’s no excuse not to visit this beautiful spot.

A Perfect Setting for Weddings & Post-weddings

Llanos de Cortés Waterfall is a favorite among many Costa Rica destination wedding photographers, including myself. I recommended this location to Luciana when she contacted me for her post-wedding session.

Luciana and Ryan, a young couple full of excitement, celebrated their wedding intimately at Dreams Las Mareas and decided to have their post-wedding photos taken the next day.

We decided that Llanos de Cortés Waterfall would be perfect for what Luciana and Ryan wanted. They gave their best during the photo session, and at the end, we ventured into the water to capture some mystical and romantic images.

One of the advantages of this location is that, as wedding photographers, we can request a permit to enter an hour before normal access and enjoy the waterfall all to ourselves. This allows us to make the most of the session, as the place is small and becomes crowded with tourists, making it more challenging to take photos.
